ABOUT PROJECT EQUIPPED

In 2024, Camryn Sanchez founded Project EquippED to combine her passion for education with her commitment to serving her community. Project EquippED’s mission is to improve access to essential school resources on regional, national, and international levels—ensuring that every student has the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

Camryn’s drive to create Project EquippED stemmed from her own awareness of how inequitable access to basic educational materials can limit opportunity. She believes that no student should be at a disadvantage because of where they live or what they can afford. In her home state of New Jersey, she learned that schools in low-income districts often have drastically fewer classroom resources per student than schools in wealthier areas. This deeply motivated her to take action. Education is for everyone—and Project EquippED is dedicated to making that belief a reality.

Since founding the initiative, Camryn has led multiple efforts to close the educational resource gap. She has organized local fundraisers and supply drives to collect and distribute school materials—such as backpacks, notebooks, and art supplies—to underfunded schools and youth programs. Internationally, she traveled to Institución Educativa El Rosario, an underserved elementary school in Paipa, Boyacá, Colombia, where she delivered educational kits and spent time engaging with students. The trip connected deeply with her love for her Hispanic heritage and her Colombian roots. Locally, she partners with community centers and after-school programs in Newark, NJ, where poverty rates exceed 25% and extracurricular opportunities are limited.

Through her service trips, fundraisers, and online outreach, Camryn is catalyzing meaningful change—empowering students everywhere to learn with confidence and dignity. As an aspiring educator, Camryn views Project EquippED as the first step in her lifelong mission to equip children not only with supplies, but with hope and opportunity.
